Rainbow River "Peek"

Patricia - March 2023

Paula was a great host - friendly, very helpful and many great suggestions to make our stay comfortable. We planned to kayak on the Rainbow River and she helped to strategically position our car at the exit point so we could enjoy the full length of the river from the head springs back to town. The campsite was exactly as described in the listing. We camped with a tent, eco toilet and shower from the hose, which was very refreshing after a day in the sun. She also had an outdoor stainless steel sink with running water which was a great plus, along with umbrella, table, chairs, and fire pit. Really beautiful greenery in the back yard. Bring bug spray! I’m so glad we chose this spot for camping instead of a more public or commercial spot. The privacy of Paula’s yard and her personal attention to our stay made all the difference. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you for everything Paula!

Paula's campsite was fantastic for my needs. If you are looking for a place near the Rainbow River, this is the one, you won't find a better location or a more gracious host. At the dead end of a residential street the campsite was next to her pole barn and backed up to a wooded area with a trail in sight of the river. I had not planned on staying in Dunnellon two nights but the Rainbow River was so absolutely stunning I had to go back again. When the state park was full for my second night, I found Paula's place. I'm so glad I did. She was a great host, offering plenty of information, a guided tour of town and even dropped me off in my kayak upriver to paddle back to the boat ramp near her home. 10/10 would do again. Thanks Paula!

We stayed at Paula'w Rainbow River RV "Peek". Paula was a great host, helpful and welcoming. She checked in via text asking if we wanted any suggestions about the area. Her Rv site was nice and clean. Easy access for water, electrical and sewer. Great big fire pit! The view of the woods from the RV site was very pretty and relaxing! Easy access to Rainbow river and the Dunnellon area. We plan to return!!

Paula was great. The site is graveled and the picnic table worked out perfectly. The fire pit was a fun touch. Our weather was hit or miss but this spot worked well.

What a perfect little spot to explore Dunnellon! It was exactly what I was looking for - a place to park my teardrop so I could explore the area but not necessarily camp. Paula made that even easier by providing a water hose, sewer hose, and canopy with chairs. I barely had to set anything up and I mostly ate out, which was easy to do with all the good restaurants within walking distance. Definitely check out Go For Donuts and get there early before they sell out! They also have really good bagel sandwiches. And Citrus Grill was a delicious spot too! I brought my bike and explored around town then jumped on the paved trail at Blue Run Park. Highly recommend bringing a bike! I also brought my kayak and launched from KP Hole and then just paddled out to the spring head and back, but you can also float all the down to Blue Run Park which is very close to the campsite. It was a perfect weekend. Highly recommend!! 👍👍

Paula was a welcoming and extremely helpful host, and this is an excellent place to stay particularly if you have a small RV and are interested in exploring the exquisite Rainbow River. There is a public beach on the river that is easy walking or cycling distance from the campsite, and you can purchase an add on to get dropped off at a river lunch site and get picked up again later in the day, and it is an extraordinarily good value at $30 per couple (including kayak and all the other equipment you'll need and your wristband for utilizing the river for the day).
Definitely take Paula up on her recommendation to paddle upstream a little bit from your launching point, and explore the shallow stream off to the right. The white sand below you is so beautiful, and you can see all sorts of fishes in the super clear water.
We saw a Brazilian turtles, and all manner of birds but we didn't end up spotting any alligators, nor the otters we've heard are often frolicking near swampy's, which is a bar and restaurant right along the river.
This is a relatively no frills campsite but definitely has everything you need, including a picnic table that's under a canopy so if you wound up with a rainy day you'd have somewhere to hang out beside your camper, and you can purchase firewood with your booking to use in the fire pit onsite.

And it sounds like you might have a decent chance of spotting some wildlife on her property as well.
We had an absolutely magical time here. It was definitely our favorite day of our vacation.

Rainbow River RV/Tent Site

Great host and location. Good communication with the host and made herself available for any questions. There was a book upon arrival that the host put together with maps, restaurants, shopping, etc. which was very nice. I would definitely recommend this stay.

Great Host & Site

Paula was an excellent host & an awesome guide. She was extremely helpful, dropping us off at kayak ramp & renting her yaks. She knows the area well & had a ton of info for us. Her site is centrally located to restaurants, bars & cool spring water activities. We will return if it’s available.

Our 20ft trailer fit well in the driveway by the pole barn and our friend set up a tent in the small wooded area behind us. We stayed for 2 nights and rented kayaks from Paula to paddle the Rainbow. She dropped us off and picked us up and showed us around with many recommendations. She was a great host! Helped us back the trailer in and level it and made sure we had everything we needed.

I wanted to check out Rainbow Springs, but could only get one night at the state park. I was so fortunate to find Rainbow River RV Peek. I was able to extend my stay in this wonderful area and have Paula as a hostess. She was so warm and welcoming, going above and beyond. I was able to kayak with her help and invite an old friend over for a campfire. She also had good recommendations for restaurants and things to see in Dunnellon.
